Please Register Here)\nWe also have some random prizes to give away during the event.\n\nSchedule of events: \n\n17:00 – 18:00: LAN Setup\n18:00 – 18:10 : Monash IT Society Welcome Talk\n18:10 – 19:30 : Company Presentations\n19:30 – 20:00 : Student Presentations and Talks (Students talk about their own projects)\n20:00 – 22:00(next day) : Hackathon\n20:00 – 22:00(next day) : Gaming LAN and Board Games\n\nVenue: Building F – Seminar Room 11\, 12 and 13 \nFor those unfamiliar with what a Hackathon and Gaming LAN is here is a short description of each. \nA Hackathon is essentially a get-together of multiple people to tackle various IT challenges. A C(apture)T(he)F(lag) event is comprised of two or more teams solving various challenges. We are going to be hosting a jeopardy style CTF event. In jeopardy\, teams compete in order to rack up the most points by completing challenges and solving puzzles. Jeopardy style CTF events cater for a wide range of skills\, from beginners to advanced security professionals. The challenges and puzzles are both digital and physical\, such as: software exploitation\, web penetration\, mathematical puzzles or lock-picking. \n\nA Gaming LAN (Local Area Network) is an event where multiple people bring their own Gaming Computers either be a Laptop or Desktop. They then proceed to connect their computers to the same Local Area Network in order to play games with and against each other. Gaming this way insures the best possible latency when playing multiplayer games thus providing a lag free  and smooth gaming experience. Teams of players are also organized during these events and they put to compete against each other in various Electronic Mind Sports games.\n\nThe following games will be played mostly during the event (all are free)\, other games are also welcome but please insure you update or download these games. You can download these games at the LAN however it will take some time.\n\nLeague of Legends \nParagon\nTeam Fortress 2\nEvolve Stage 2\nOthers…\n\nIf you wish to bring your computer to the LAN please follow the instructions below in order to have internet access when you connect you computer.\nInstructions on how to register your computer’s MAC Address\, if you haven’t done that already\, can be found here: Registration Link \nIf you’d like to join the MITS Discord Server here: Join Link (It’s FREE!)\n(Discord is an amazing Multi-Platform (pc\, mac\, iOS\, android) communication medium which features text chat\, in game stats and a voice chat system. Similar to Skype and Teamspeak except for the fact that Discord is cool and is being actively developed by a dedicated team) \nIf you would like to bring any guests from off of Campus\, please let the Admins by the names of ZeroOne or Megafisshy on Discord or the Forums know. This is very important! Security will not let your guests on campus otherwise. \nIf you have any questions or suggestions regarding the event please post it on the forums. \nPlease spread the word!
