Corsair H5 SF Cooler

Postby Megafisshy » Tue Mar 08, 2016 3:31 pm

Corsair's latest offering in the CPU Cooling market, could this awkward looking cooler change the game?

KitGuru - Corsair H5 SF cooler with Obsidian 250D case

"Corsair H5 SF is an All-In-One (AIO) liquid cooler that was developed for the small form factor Bulldog chassis and has now been released as a separate component aimed at the home PC builder. In a conventional AIO such as Corsair Hydro H100i the cold plate/pump unit is secured to the CPU, the fans are attached to the radiator which is mounted on the case and the hoses move the coolant around to keep the whole thing cool. Corsair H5 SF takes a different approach as the hoses are very short and the radiator unit mounts directly above the CPU and is not attached to the case. The dust buster-style fan draws air up from the CPU area and then blows it to the rear of the case, where you had better hope you have suitable ventilation that will allow the air to escape.

This novel layout has the advantage of being compact and moving air around the CPU socket area of your motherboard. On the downside installation is relatively fiddly."

Personally from what I can see is that it's just a small form factor Water Cooling System.
Nice for small micro atx builds if you looking for water cooling.

Have you heard of a Kinetic Cooler. It seems to have some potential when it comes to CPU cooling tech.

New kinetic cooler is a heatsink that’s also a CPU fan

Here is a link to the official website of the inventors of the technology which also explains the concept further.

That's a really *cool* concept! Looking forward to seeing them come to market, especially in the mobile space! The concept is fascinating in that the fan could essentially spin until the bearing fails or it self destructs. Hopefully it can hold an equilibrium on 500w chips (for GPU use)!
