ASRock re-enables overclocking on non-K Intel CPUs with new motherboards.

Postby Megafisshy » Fri Mar 11, 2016 2:47 pm

For a while now, Overclocking a non-K series Intel CPU has been impossible. This unpopular move by Intel didn't go down well with a lot of motherboard manufacturers, however ASRock decided to make a move.

They added their own external clock generator which circumvents the Intel safeguarded clock generator in order to allow the modification of the BCLK (Base Clock). It provides limited overclocking support, but without the ability to modify the BCLK multiplier, results won't be spectacular. It's a step in the right direction. Kudos ASRock!

I respect manufacturers who support overcloacking. Well done ASRock.
One should have the right to get the best performance out of their own equipment without being limited by stupid things manufacturers do to prevent it.

DFI LAN Party motherboards back in the day use to be one of the best and are remembered in history for high overloacking potential.
MSI has also been producing awesome motherboards like their MPower motherboards which are built for overcloacking.

There is nothing better than getting free extra performance out of your equipment like your cpu, memory, gpu and the system being perfectly stable.
Just make sure you have the appropriate cooling solution, to cool the hot beast down
:D
