Join MITS us we explore what an Raspberry Pi can do.

You might be asking what is a Rapsberry Pi? Well here is a description below.

The Raspberry Pi is a low cost, credit-cardsized computer that plugs into a computer monitor or TV, and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. It is a capable little device that enables people of all ages to explore computing, and to learn how to program in languages like Scratch and Python. It’s capable of doing everything you’d expect a desktop computer to do, from browsing the internet and playing high-definition video, to making spreadsheets, word-processing, and playing games.

What’s more, the Raspberry Pi has the ability to interact with the outside world, and has been used in a wide array of digital maker projects, from music machines and parent detectors to weather stations and tweeting birdhouses with infra-red cameras. We want to see the Raspberry Pi being used by kids all over the world to learn to program and understand how computers work.

I haven't worked with my pi for a while but one of the projects I worked on was using it as a "onion router" to connect directly to the TOR network. I wanted to use it to control a string of RGB LEDs for an infinity mirror but ended up not doing it as I liked the blue test LEDs I installed.

I bought my first Raspberry Pi this year and its been awesome thus far.
You can do and make so many different things with it.

I got the following kit from Amazon.

Vilros Raspberry Pi 2 Ultimate Starter Kit

I paired it with a 7-inch touch screen, appropriate case, wireless mouse/keyboard and 10000mAh power bank to make it portable.

Will be attempting to build the following system and then customize it to my research needs.
The Piratebox
PirateBox is a DIY anonymous offline file-sharing and communications system built with free software and inexpensive off-the-shelf hardware.

Yes we will be placing a bulk order in June so you can play with it once your exams are done.
Further details will be posted soon, keep you eye out on this thread.

Once we have them, I attend to arrange a Hackathon and use the Raspberry Pi's as a possible development platform.

Ok after some investigation and inquries it seems that its not possible at the moment to aquire any kind of discount on official Raspberry Pi products from the suppliers in South Africa.

The cheapest place to acquire one is from
Pi Shop
R715.00 for the Raspberry Pi 3.

A few other suppliers which are slightly more expensive for the Pi 3 are:
Pi Factory
RS Components

They all offer additional components which can be used for the Raspberry Pi at various prices.
