Synopsis:
Installing Arch Linux and what you need to know.
What do I need?
The ISO file first of all: here
*tip use the magnet to use a torrent file to download the iso. (in my experience it is faster than direct downloads)
An uncapped internet connection.
Preparing the install
After you have downloaded the ISO, make either a bootable pen drive (recommended) or a dvd.
Windows:
Use Universal Pen Drive (for windows)
GNU/Linux:
"Run the following command, replacing /dev/sdx with your drive, e.g. /dev/sdb. (do not append a partition number, so do not use something like /dev/sdb1):"
Code: Select all
# dd bs=4M if=/path/to/archlinux.iso of=/dev/sdx status=progress && sync
"The option status=progress above reports transfer progress every so often. It was introduced in coreutils 8.24 and should be omitted if distribution used to create installation media provides older version. Do not miss sync to complete before pulling the USB drive."
